Body & Soul Story – Mario

Dan, one of our Casa Linda houseparents, received a desperate call from a family in Maguri.  When he first met them through Reaching Romania’s Food for Body and Soul program, he was overwhelmed by their story.

The couple has seven children, four who are still living with them. Two years ago, their 12-year-old son, Mario, was hit by a car, putting him in a coma. The doctors said he wouldn’t survive. In that moment, the parents accepted Christ and cried out to God to save their son. Amazingly, Mario came out of the coma and was able to survive two surgeries on his brain and his lungs. Still, Mario is dependent on life-saving medical equipment to keep him alive.

When the family called Dan, their electricity was out and they had no way to keep Mario’s life-support machines operating.

A few days earlier, Dan had felt directed to refill his gas can, but he did not know why until the phone call. Upon hearing the news, he immediately brought the family a small generator and a tank of gas. Dan arrived to find an ambulance there giving Mario oxygen, but he was able to leave the generator with them for Mario’s care. The family was very grateful for the help they received.
