What We Do

Caring for Children

“Father to the fatherless, defender of widows
—this is God, whose dwelling is holy.

  God places the lonely in families;
he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.”

Psalm 68:5-6a (New Living Translation)

God’s plan for children is a family …it’s essential for a child’s development. Children in many Romanian orphanages lack education and training in life skills. Unable to make decisions, as they become adults, they are unprepared to face the challenges of daily living or to support themselves and their families.

Reach Romania seeks to reverse that burden with Casa Linda, our Christ-centered children’s home, and the construction of three more children’s homes and a multipurpose building to house food services and training spaces. The additional housing and support space will empower Reach Romania to care for up to 30 more children in need within a safe, compassionate environment with loving Christian house parents.

Your gift provides children with:

  • a permanent, safe Christian home environment
  • nutritious food and warm clothing
  • a basic education that can free them from a life of poverty
  • the everyday joy that every child should experience.

Training

Over the years, the Reach Romania team has brought professional and spiritual training to Romanian pastors, to women, and to government officials.

Training in Trauma-Informed Care

As local officials work to expand the capacity of their child welfare system, Reach Romania is leveraging existing relationships to provide trauma-informed care training to families, social workers, and foster care advocates.

Vocational Training

Reach Romania is also exploring vocational training programs for the children who have aged out of the foster care system, but have no education or life skills to support themselves.

Mission Trips and Outreaches

Mission trips allow people to see and experience firsthand the work of God in the lives of the people of Romania. Reach Romania generally schedules one to three trips each year, creating more opportunities for Americans to engage in world missions.

American missions team members often serve with our Casa Linda and Casa Armonia Children’s Homes or through Wellness and/or Vision Clinics. Reach Romania works with Romanian doctors and nurses to assess health problems and provide patients with assistance in seeking help. To date, more than 4,000 people have received free services in our clinics. Most important, each one has heard the plan of salvation through Christ Jesus.

Benevolence Ministry to the Needy

Romania has the highest poverty rate in the European Union.

Through our Food for Body and Soul ministry, Reach Romania provides supplementary assistance to families that find themselves unable to make ends meet. By delivering monthly boxes of food, as well as providing firewood, counseling, and emergency relief, the ministry aids 10 to 12 needy families. By building relationships, Reach Romania helps meet each family’s needs—physically and spiritually—without fostering dependence. And it relieves so much fear and suffering.

Our goal is to expand to serving 50 families each month by 2022. It only costs $50 a month to help each family in need.
